Nestled in the historic town of Redlands, California, with facilities in the rural community of Yucaipa and Oak Glen, California, Benchmark is approximately 60 miles East of Los Angeles (LAX), 60 miles North East of Newport Beach (SNA). Redlands and Yucaipa are situated at the foot of the San Gorgonio Mountains, Benchmark is centrally located near the mountain resorts, deserts of Palm Springs and the Joshua Tree National Monument, and close to the Pacific beaches of Southern California.
Our location provides multiple recreational opportunities close to educational, vocational & cultural venues that lend to community-based learning situations, allowing our participants to gain a foothold on their own independent living and success.
Redlands, known as the “Big Town with a Small Town feel, ” is filled with tree-lined streets, historic Victorian homes and beautiful mountain views. The industry is based primarily upon citrus growth and environmental services. Benchmark is surrounded by some of the largest citrus groves in Southern California, along with a weekly farmers market and local organic farms. Another advantage – we’re far enough away from the fast-paced temptations commonly found in the big city of Los Angeles.
Yucaipa is known as the “Southern California’s Best Kept Secret.” Yucaipa is a small rural community, approximately 70 miles east of Los Angeles. Yucaipa is recognized as an ideal location for apple and cherry orchards. As a mountain-locked mesa, the Yucaipa valley has been compared to the Hood Valley in Oregon and the Yakima Valley in Washington. Benchmark has two homes in Yucaipa, Wildwood Canyon and Panorama Ridge.
